Welcome to our Hotel Premeno, a charming family hotel which is particularly known for its kitchen. It is located on the hills of Lake Maggiore in the health resort of Premeno
Surrounded by a quiet and green environment, it is the ideal place for relax. The hotel is at a 5 minutes distance from the medieval village of Premeno with its unique atmosphere. From here, one can go for marvellous walks through woods and mountain pastures in the surroundings of the historical centre. Premeno is also called the "balcony" over Lake Maggiore, situated in a sunny position amidst pastures and pinewoods. Surrounded by fascinating historical villas with wonderful gardens, Hotel Premeno offers his guests the possibility to go for a walk in a green environment and at the same time the possibility to reach many sites around the lake worth visiting. Family Barbini takes personally care of the well-being of their guests. In our restaurant we daily use fresh ingredients from local agriculture.
To groups we offer guided tours to the most beautiful places around Lake Maggiore which are organised with attention for the smallest details. A description of the excursions follows.

After dinner we'll go for a pleasant walk to the panoramic point of San Salvatore to enjoy the idyllic view over the lake, the hills and the mountains. |
| The Borromeo Islands |
Botanic Paradise on Lake Maggiore
In Pallanza the boats will be waiting for us to take us to the three islands in the Borromeo Gulf.
Isola Madre
In the botanical garden of Isola Madre (Mother Island) on Lake Maggiore, you will be admiring flowers and plants from the whole world. We'll see a colour blend of trees, flowers and plants, originating from Africa, Europe, Asia, America and Oceania. The particularities of these species will be explained by our guide. During the guided visit of the palace dating back to the 16th Century, you will be able to admire the precious properties of the Borromeo family.
Isola Bella
In this botanical garden in the lake, you will have the possibility to taste the local fish specialties. A guided visit of the palace which still today is the Summer residence of the princess follows. After that, you will be able to visit the ten terrace garden individually.
Isola dei Pescatori (Fishermen's Island)
During your free time, you will be able to enjoy the original beauty of this island. In the narrow streets, you will discover your favourite shops. (possibility to swim). On our way back, we will plan a stop for an ice cream in Pallanza. |
| Lake Orta |
The beauty of this picturesque borgo, former residence of poets and painters, will fascinate you. In this landscape, characterized by the scent of camellias, magnolias and olea fragrans, we will discover Lake Orta and its Island of Saint Giulio. The organized boat trip will take us to this fascinating island which is embedded in the lake like a pearl and therefore nicknamed "island of silence". Here you will be able to visit the 14th C. church.In the little town of Orta which is completely pedestrian area, you will have time for a coffee or a snack in one of the many beautiful cafés. After that you may want to do some shopping in local shops. In the afternoon, we'll take the panoramic road over the Mottarone mountain with unforgettable views over the lake and the Borromeo islands. We'll make a stop in Stresa.*Combination possibilities for this tour:In case you plan to do this tour on Saturday, you will be able to visit the local market of Intra. Otherwise, you can plan a guided walking tour in the medieval village of Premeno. |
| Milan |
In the morning, we'll take the motorway to the metropolis of Milan, the most dynamic and broad-minded city in the North of Italy. The famous opera house Teatro alla Scala with its precious museum, the majestic construction of the cathedral crowned by the famous gold plated statue of the Madonnina, the elegant shopping gallery Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, also called the salon of Milan and still today meeting point for artists, authors and politicians, are waiting for you!Visit the theatre and take the elevator up to the roof of the cathedral, then during your free time you can do some elegant shopping. On our way back we will plan a stop in Arona or Stresa. |
| The Verzasca Valley |
Today we'll take you to the heart of the Verzasca Valley in the canton of Ticino (CH). An unforgettable landscape is waiting for you. Fresh air, crystal clear water, enchanting waterfalls and many mountains. In this alpine scenery, we'll go up to one of Europe's highest dams. Here we'll make a short stop for pictures. Passing through this pure and romantic environment, full of contrasts thanks to the imposing mountain chains (average height of 2400m) and the emerald green colour of the water, we'll reach Lavertezzo with its late medieval arched bridge. In the last village of the valley, Sonogno (930m), we'll have the possibility to taste a typical local dish served with local Merlot wine in a characteristic "Grotto" In the afternoon, we'll say goodbye to the valley and go back down to the lake where we'll make a stop in Locarno. In this town that conserved its antique charm, you will have time to visit the pedestrian area, to do some shopping or to have a coffee and enjoy the romantic view over Lake Maggiore. |
| Tour of the three lakes |
During this tour, you will be fascinated by the contrasts of nature. From our Lake Maggiore we'll go to Lugano, Switzerland, Canton Ticino's biggest town which still today is a tourist resort par excellence. The mild and sunny climate, the luxurious vegetation of the Parco Ciani, the famous main street Via Nassa and the beauty of the lakeside promenade invite you for a walk. After our lunch break will drive along Lake Lugano to Como, the city of silk. In this elegant town, patronized by many famous persons, we can organize a little cruise to admire the antique villas of important persons. |
